In 2002 husband and wife Lee & Carrie Johnson purchased 40 Alder Road in West Derby, Liverpoool. As parents of a 6 month daughter, they struggled to find suitable childcare when returning to employment. Therefore following on from successful positions in education, they decided to convert the property into their first children’s day nursery… this is how Kids in Bloom came to be. We developed an excellent local reputation and has since expanded. Works started in October 2002 and lasted 8 months.
One Year Later
Kids in Bloom West Derby opened its doors in June 2003. Our reputation as a quality provision grew rapidly and our client base increased on a daily basis. Quickly Kids in Bloom gained a reputation for being a family-run business that can react quickly to local needs but, more importantly, can respond personally to the families that it serves.
Our First After School Club
2004 became a pivotal year for Kids in Bloom. We opened opened our first Out of School Club based in The Cornerstone Centre, West Derby, Liverpool. This came in response to local demand from many parents approaching us struggling to find high quality care for their school age children. It developed an excellent local reputation and has since expanded.
Three years later
In three years Kids in Bloom had opened a second Out of School provision situated within Malvern Primary School, Liverpool. To date, we work hard to maintain the excellent relationship we have with the school, its staff and all the parents and children. It was at this stage we appointed Mr Mark Johnson to the board, to help compliment the management team.
Southdene Children’s Centre
Kids in Bloom is successful in securing the bid for Southdene Children’s Centre, on the grounds of St Joseph the Worker Catholic Primary School , Kirkby. We offer full day care and wrap around facilities to children attending the school.
We appointed Mrs Lisa May as directors in 2010. In June 2011, with the support of Carrie, Lisa and Mark were successful in securing the bid for Northwood Children’s Centre, on the grounds of Northwood Primary School, Roughwood Drive, Kirkby and Eden Children’s Centre, on the grounds of Westvale Primary School, Melverly Drive, Kirkby. We provide full day care, wrap around, afterschool and holiday care at both settings.
Kids in Bloom introduced a further director Mrs Stella Arends. She led the successful bid to take over the running of The University of Liverpool Children’s Centre, Grove Street. Since August 2014, we have provided full daycare and a thriving holiday club.
Kids in Blooms most recent achievement has been led by Mark Johnson. The site is situated on the grounds of Malvern Primary School, Willoughby Road, Huyton, Liverpool. Following the purchase of a brand new purpose built structure, the setting opened its doors in June 2015.
